DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, September 21, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> September 21, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DiCKs <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6'h Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger <br /> presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry <br /> McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; <br /> Acting Deputy City Clerk Lori Smith; Christine Grenier, Council Assistant; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. <br /> A CouNci�BRiEFitv� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Eric Roberts of Discovery Fellowship. <br /> POLICE OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan brought forward Municipal Court Judae James Doctor to <br /> administer the Oath of Office promoting Police Officers Michael Davis to Lieutenant; Aaron Elton, <br /> Timothv Garritv, and Keith Sarqent to Sergeant; and Jefferv Schaefer to Corporal; and also <br /> swearing in new Police Officers Jennifer Corn and Michael Tover. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Lent Announced to following events: <br /> • The 7th Annual "Beautify Bremerton" All City Clean-Up this Saturday, September 24 from <br /> 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Knights Field and that only yard waste will be accepted; <br /> • Josh Farley of the Kitsap Sun will be hosting the next Story Walk featuring Olympic <br /> College's "Secret Garden" on Saturday beginning at 1:00 PM at Olympic College; <br /> • Kitsap Chordsmen will be performing "House Rules" on Saturday at 2:00 and 7:00 PM in <br /> the Performing Arts Center at Bremerton High School; <br /> • The 8th Annual Kitsap Grown Harvest Dinner on Sunday, September 25 from 5:00 to 9:00 <br /> PM at Olympic College which will include farms from throughout Kitsap County; <br /> • "Stand Down for Veterans" event on Saturday, October 1 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at <br /> Sheridan Park Community Center for veterans and their families; <br /> • Puget Sound Naval Shipyard is celebrating its 125th Anniversary this month and the City of <br /> Bremerton will be celebrating its 115th Anniversary in October; and <br /> • Recent water quality testing showed that there are much lower levels of chromium present <br /> in Bremerton's water when compared to national standards. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan used a Power Point presentation to highlight trends, statistics, and <br /> police activity for the Month of August and early September. Comments were provided by <br /> Wheeler and Daugs... <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Sunnv Wheeler, Kiwanis Club of Bremerton President; Darroll Clark, President-Elect; and Bob <br /> Moraan, Board of Directors, presented a check for$5,000 to the Parks Department for <br /> improvements at Kiwanis Field which was accepted by Parks & Recreation Director Jeff Elevado. <br /> Terrv Fessner hoped the City would focus on drawing retail businesses rather than redoing 4tn <br /> Street for a second time. <br />
