DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CnUNC�I <br /> n f�;r�.r�IP3 <br /> � '��� <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES �AY ` � �016 <br /> Wednesday, April 20, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order <br /> Wednesday, April 20, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NoRnn DicKs <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric <br /> Younger presiding. Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, <br /> Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. <br /> A CouNc�� BR�EF�NG was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Denis Huelle of Peace Lutheran Church. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT CEREMONY <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan presented a Recognition P/aque to Serqeant Randv Olson in <br /> appreciation for his 28 years of service to the City of Bremerton; and wished him well in his <br /> retirement. Mavor Lent thanked Sergeant Olson for his service to the community. <br /> Judqe James Docter performed the Oath of Office during a Swearing-In Ceremony promoting <br /> Police Corporals: Aaron D.W. Elton; Timothv J. Garritv; Steven M. Polonsky; Todd C. <br /> Bvers; James D. Miller; Dahle L. Roessel; and Rodnev L. Rauback. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Introduced the Merit Award winning students from Bremerton area schools who <br /> participated in the Washington State Science and Engineering Fair(WSSEF); <br /> • Caroline Stein thanked City Council for attending the WSSEF and specifically President <br /> Younger and Mayor Lent for being guest speakers; and added that every hotel room in <br /> Bremerton was vacant during this very successful event; <br /> • Encouraged the community to take the Mayor's Conservation Challenge at <br /> www.mvwaterpledqe.com; � <br /> 0 <br /> • Presented a Mayor's Appreciation Award to Coco Bear, a very helpful dog who routinely <br /> chases off Canadian geese from City parks which was accepted by Cris Larsen; <br /> • Announced the Annual Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, April 23 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM <br /> at 4398 West Belfair Valley Road; <br /> • Looked forward to the Cinco de Mayo Street Fair and Carnival on Saturday, May 7 from <br /> 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM along Callow Avenue; <br /> • Mentioned that the Salvation Army has opened registration for youth ages 6 to 16 for <br /> Summer Camp on June 20, July 11, and July 25 at Camp Arnold in Eatonville and more <br /> information to contact (360) 373-5550; <br /> • Shared that Impark is posting signs on vehicles parked along 4th Street between Pacific <br /> and Park Avenues and on Park Ave from 4�h to Burwell Streets where the time limit will <br /> be changing from 3 hours to 2 hours; and <br /> • Reminded the community that the Annual Kitsap Great Give will be on Tuesday, May 3. <br />
