DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> c������ <br /> r�,.�-:�: � _:z <br /> ;: ..' ;:,: <br /> ,.. - . .�Jc <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> �9AR 1 6 ���� <br /> Wednesday, March 2, 2016 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> March 2, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NoRM DiCKs GovER►vMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6`h Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, and <br /> Pat Sullivan. Council Member Leslie Daugs was absent. Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. � <br /> A CouNCi� BR�EF�tv� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Walt Le Couteur of the Kitsap Rescue Mission. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Provided an update on the amount received by the City for permits and fees for the month <br /> of February, indicating that the amount is up from the amount received in February of 2015; <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of March 2016 as Brain Injury Awareness Month; and presented <br /> the proc{amation to Suzanne Griffin, who announced that on March 16 there will be a <br /> "Brain Injury Awareness Month Celebration" with friends, food, Irish dance, and fun at the <br /> Pyramid Restaurant in Seattle; <br />� • Announced the 25th Annual Saint Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Saturday, March 19 <br /> beginning at 11:00 AM from the corner of 6th Street, and will include a route going through <br /> the Burwell Pedestrian Tunnel; <br /> • Looked forward to the 59th Annual Washington State Science & Engineering Fair(WSSEF) <br /> to be held Friday, April 1 and Saturday, April 2 at Bremerton High School; <br /> • Encouraged everyone to visit Facebook for more information on the "Broad Humor" <br /> Festival, coming to Bremerton at SEEfilm Cinema from April 12 to 17, 2016; <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of October 2016 as Filipino History Month, Celebrating the 429�' <br /> Anniversary of the presence of Filipinos in fhe United States indicating that a number <br /> of events will be scheduled between now and then; and <br /> • Was pleased that Bremerton-Pond Hopping is currently featured in a "Hot Neighborhoods" <br /> article in "Seattle" Magazine. <br /> KEDA QUARTERLY UPDATE <br /> Kathv Cocus, KEDA Business Development Director, summarized highlights from 4th Quarter <br /> 2015; and showed one of the newer Kitsap Connected videos promoting Kitsap County. <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE <br /> Allison Satter, City Planner, provided an overview of Element 4 on "Economic Development". <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton, Community Relations Coordinator with the Kitsap Family YMCA, highlighted all of <br /> the events and activities taking place this month at the "Y"; including the next Resolution 5k Run <br /> on Saturday, March 26 with registration beginning at 9:00 AM, and snacks and water will be <br /> provided. <br />
