Council Members <br /> present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. <br /> Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori <br /> Smith; and Hans Nilsson, Information Services. <br /> A CourvCi�BRiEFiN� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> President Wheeler announced that members of Bov Scout Troop No. 1506 will lead the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance; and Pastor Ken Heatvedt of Grace Community Presbyterian Church will provide the <br /> Invocation. <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEMBER SWEARING-IN CEREMONY <br /> Kitsap Countv District Court Judqe Jeffrev H. Jahns performed the Oath of Office for re-elected <br /> District 2 Council Member Leslie Dauas and District 4 Council Member Grep Wheeler; and newly <br /> elected District 6 Council Member Richard Huddv. <br /> President Wheeler announced that the Council Meeting will be recessed for approximately 12 minutes <br /> for a brief reception... The Council Meeting reconvened at 5:52 PM... <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Invited Joe Sexton, Community Resource Officer, to present the 6�h Annual Neighborhood <br /> Improvement Awards to the following Bremerton residents: Roqelio Manqahas; Galina Vavner& <br /> Jared Ball; Jessica &Jason Pierson; Sue Plahn 8� Doua Lanaton; Heather Haaa & Dustin <br /> Walior; Erik Smith; Cvndi & Rov Daniel; and Ravlene 8� Edward Collier; <br /> • Proclaimed December 15, 2015 as National Bill of Rights Day, which was accepted by Robert <br /> Theil, Chairman of the American Legion Americanism Youth Programs; <br /> • Reminded citizens that "Holiday TreeCycle" will be available from December 28 through January 15 <br /> from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM at the Public Works Facilities on Oyster Bay and Olympus Drive; <br /> • Shared before and after photos of Lions Park, Kiwanis Park, Lillian A. & James Walker Park, <br /> Evergreen Rotary Park (Inclusive Playground), Blueberry Park, Bachman Park; and Smith Natural <br /> Play Park; and presented a Plaque in Appreciation to Wvn Birkenthal, Parks 8� Recreation <br /> Director in recognition of his years of service with the City, and wished him well in his retirement; <br /> • Expressed her pride in the Captain and crew of the USS Bremerton, and wished them a safe <br /> journey as the ship prepared to set sail on its fifteenth deployment; <br /> • Mentioned the SyFy Channel's Z-Nation show that was filmed onboard the USS Turner Joy will be <br /> aired this weekend, and thanked Council Member Dino Davis for bringing them to Bremerton; <br /> • Brought forward Council Member Pat Sullivan who was pleased to present a check to Wyn <br /> Birkenthal for use at Lions Park in memory of her husband Council Member Mike Sullivan. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> A monthly update was provided by Police Chief Steven Strachan on Police Department operations. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Robert Theil, Chairman with the American Legion Americanism Youth Program, brought forward <br /> several Bremerton High School students to recognize their accomplishments in the 2015 Evergreen <br /> Boys State and Evergreen Girls State Programs; and acknowledged that former Council Member Carol <br /> Arends was a member of the 3�d graduating class of the Evergreen Girls State Program in 1942. <br /> Lastly, he encouraged current High School students to apply for the 2016 Program. <br />
