Council <br /> Members present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, Leslie Daugs and <br /> Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shanr�on Corin; Legislative <br /> Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A CouNci� BRiEFiN� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> President Wheeler announced that Council Member Pat Sullivan will lead the Pledge of <br /> Allegiance; and Deacon Bill Hamlin of Our Lady Star of the Sea Church will provide the invocation. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT—Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Referring to 2015 data through the month of October, gave a positive report on the record <br /> number of permits and the high value of construction projects taking place in the City; <br /> • Proclaimed Sunday, November 15, 2015 as "America Recycles Da�'; <br /> • Encouraged students from 9th to 12�h grade to participate in the Washington State Society <br /> "American Revolution Essay History Contest" by December 1; <br />' • Proclaimed Friday, November 13, 2015 as "World Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Da�', <br /> which was accepted by Joan Mabbutt of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network; <br /> • As part of Kitsap's Hunger& Homelessness Awareness Week, there will be a "Blessing of <br /> the Hats and Scarves" on Monday, November 16 at Noon at the Bremerton United Methodist <br /> Church; and then on Saturday, November 21 beginning at 10:00 AM the "Hunger & <br /> Homelessness March" will begin from Our Lady Star of the Sea Church to the Norm Dicks <br /> Government Center; <br /> • Encouraged First-Time Home Buyers to participate in a free workshop on November 19 8� 20 <br /> in the First Floor Chambers, and noted that a meal will be provided; and <br /> • Brought forward Public Works & Utilities Director Chal Martin, who was pleased to share the <br /> award presented in recognition Transportation Projects to the City of Bremerton at the 2015 <br /> Conference of the Infrastructure Assistance Coordinating Council (IACG) held in Wenatchee, <br /> WA from October 20 to 22. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> Police Chief Steven Strachan provided a monthly update on Police Department operations. <br /> KEDA BRIEFING <br /> John Powers, Executive Director, Kitsap Economic Development Alliance provided a briefing on <br /> the 3�d Quarter"2015 Economic Development Report"; and shared a brief vide� on "Safe Boats". <br /> Council Members Runyon and Davis provided comments and asked questions, with responses <br /> provided by Mr. Powers... <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton, Community Relations Director with the Bremerton Family YMCA, provided an update <br /> on the events and activities currently taking place including the Teen Late Night Program on <br /> Fridays; a Youth NFL Flag Football League; and a Turkey Bowl on Thanksgiving Day. <br /> Dixie Armfield-Roqerson of Eastern Wind Glass invited the community to the 2"d Annual Open <br /> House & Food Drive to be held on Saturday, November 14 from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at their new <br /> location at 2604 Burwell Street for food and beverages, and to meet local artists. <br />
