C���C�L <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING � ��'@, �'� <br /> �'.. �ry�� <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES SEP 0 1 ZO15 <br /> Wednesday, August 19, 2015 <br /> The weekly meeting of the Bremerton City Council was called to order Wednesday, August 19, <br /> 2015, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER, <br /> 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Eric Younger, Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, and <br /> Leslie Daugs. The Council 1 District seat was vacant. Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; Council Assistant Christine Grenier; and Kevin Matthew, <br /> Information Services Manager. <br /> A CouNci� BRiEFiN� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Leslie Dauqs followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Paul Meeker of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. <br /> POLICE OATH OF OFFICE CEREMONY— Municipal Court Judge James Docter... <br /> • Administered the Oath of Office Ceremony for Police Officer Joshua Stottlemver. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT—Police Chief Steven Strachan... <br /> • Provided a monthly update on Police Department operations; <br /> • Introduced Tom Danaher, Bremerton Citizen Auxiliary Patrol, who reported on community <br /> . patrols that began in July; and <br /> • Was joined by Fire Chief AI Duke who shared information from the ongoing investigation <br /> into the Motel 6 Fire that happened last night. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of September 2015 as "Recovery Month"; and the proclamation <br /> was accepted by Deanne Montaomerv, Bremerton Substance Abuse Coalition; <br /> • Introduced Cvnthia Enqelqau, Parks Department, who reported on the "Fun at the <br /> Playground" Summer Program; and recognized youth volunteers who participated in the <br /> "Playground Mural Project"; <br />� • Reminded the community that the last Music in Manette Concert of this summer will be on <br /> Thursday, August 20 and the final Rock the Dock Concerts will be on Saturday, August 22 <br /> and 29; <br /> • Looked forward to the many activities in the upcoming 26th Annual Blackberry Festival <br /> during Labor Day Weekend; <br /> • Announced that the Gift Garden at 327 Pacific Avenue has official Seattle Seahawk items <br /> and gifts; <br /> • Brought forward Jeff Elevado, Parks Department, who made a brief presentation on <br /> ballfield programs and current conditions at Pendergast Regional Park; <br /> • Invited Tom Knuckev, City Engineer, to discuss the Washington Avenue Community <br /> Boulevard Project and the next series of closures and traffic revisions; <br /> • Encouraged residents to participate in the "Beautify Bremerton" City wide Clean-Up on <br /> September 19 from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM at Legion Field; <br /> • Hoped volunteers would consider serving on the BKAT Citizens Advisory Committee; and <br /> • Reported on the Astronomer's Conference being held in Bremerton this week. <br />
