Cn�P�u. <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING ������� <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES � <br /> AUG � 9 1015 <br /> Wednesday, August 5, 2015 <br /> The weekly meeting of the Bremerton City Council was called to order Wednesday, August 5, 2015, <br /> at 5:00 PM in COUt1Cll COnf@P@IlC@ ROOt11 603 Of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6cn <br /> Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Greg Wheeler presiding. Council Members <br /> present were Roy Runyon, Dino Davis, Jerry McDonald, and Leslie Daugs. Council Members Mike <br /> Sullivan and Eric Younger were absent. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk <br /> Shannon Corin; Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Information Services Manager Kevin Matthew. <br /> A Courvci�BRiEFiNG was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> President Greq Wheeler established that the Council Members were wearing bow ties tonight in <br /> honor of their friend and City Council Vice President Mike Sullivan. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was then led by Council Member Leslie Dauas followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Eric Roberts of Discovery Fellowship. A prayer was also said for Mike Sullivan. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT —Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Brought forward Robert (Bob) Batten from the Bremerton Central Lions Club to introduce the <br /> three foreign exchange students who were here for four-weeks from Sister City Kure, Japan; <br /> • Proclaimed the Week of August 2—8, 2015 as "Farmers Market Week"; and provided the <br /> proclamation to Julia Zander, Bremerton Farmers Market Manager; <br /> � Introduced Jeff Allen, Board of Directors President for the Kitsap Community Food Co Op; <br /> • Announced that only limited tickets remain for this Saturday's Kitsap Wine Festival; <br /> • Welcomed homeless (or at risk) veterans to join the Veterans Housing Options Discussion <br /> Group which meets every Monday at 1:00 PM at the Kitsap Community Resources Office; <br /> • Encouraged the public to attend a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) Open House and Community <br /> Workshop on Tuesday, August 11 from 4:30 to 6:00 PM in the Meeting Chambers; and <br /> • Looked forward to the week-long Astronomer Lecture Series to be hosted by Olympic College <br /> from August 16 to 20 at Bremerton SEEfilm Bremerton Cinema, and is free to the public. <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton, Community Relations Director with the Bremerton Family YMCA, reported on the <br /> monthly activities a:the "Y". <br /> John M. Tavlor, representing the Kitsap Alliance of Property Owners, presented a letter requesting a <br /> written statement from the City on what the plans are for expanding the boundaries of Bremerton. <br /> Gavle Gillespie asked if there were any plans from the Parks Department to add playground <br /> equipment for small children at Lions Park; hopes to see the "High Five" feature back in the <br /> newspaper to highlight local criminals. Also, regarding the Kitsap Wine Festival, he was disappointed <br /> that as part owner of the local Hoodsport Winery, it was not included in the festival, especially when it <br /> is one of the closest wineries to Bremerton. <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> 5A— Claims & Check Register: Check Numbers 364423 through 364719, and EFT 15140 through <br /> EFT 15192 in the amount of $2,187,678.43; Regular Payroll (Pay Outs) for the pay period <br /> ending June 30, 2015 in the amount of $22,488.56; Regular Payrol( for the pay period ending <br /> July 15, 2015 in the amount of $723,264.89; Regular Payroll (Pay Out) for the pay period <br /> ending July 15, 2015 in the amount of $648.19; and Retiree Payroll for the pay period ending <br /> July 31, 2015 in the amount of $51,875.12. <br />
