DIGITAL RECORDING CM <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES O <br /> Wednesday, May 16, 2012 JUN 6 2012 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> May 16, 2012, at 500 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6 th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Jim McDonald presiding <br /> Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Eric Younger, Carol Arends, Faye Flemister, Greg <br /> Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam Brockus, and Leslie Daugs Also present were City Attorney Roger <br /> Lubovich, Interim City Clerk Shannon Conn, and Council Assistant Christine Grerner <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Leslie Daugs followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Larry Robertson of Emmanuel Apostolic Church <br /> President McDonald announced that an Executive Session has been added to the agenda and <br /> action is anticipated <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Invited Lisa Campbell Water Resources, to present awards to Bremerton 2 nd Grade school <br /> students Jacqueline Gehring and Destiny Hoaeae for their artwork in the "Water is Important <br /> Every Day to Me" coloring contest which took place during National Drinking Water Week, <br /> • Presented Mayor's Appreciation Awards to Bill Ibarra Dave Coleman Scott Ferido Rev <br /> Circulado Mike Kelly and Steve Munson of Parks & Recreation, who raised $2,400 during a <br /> plant sale for Amma, Wyn Birkenthal Parks & Recreation Director also thanked his staff for <br /> their efforts in the plant sale and for making the parks look so beautiful, <br /> • Introduced Jeff Elevado Parks & Recreation, who reported that the City took children up to <br /> Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park as part of the events for National Kids to Parks Day <br /> on May 19, and encouraged people to submit photos of their trips to the parks, <br /> • Announced that the 4th Annual Armed Forces Group Ride will be held on Sunday, May 20 <br /> beginning at 9 00 AM at Pendergast park to benefit Washington Youth Academy, <br /> • Proclaimed Sunday, May 20, 2012 as "4` Annual Armed Forces Group Ride Day" which was <br /> accepted by David Raymond Armed Forces Ride Organizer, Bryan Nelson Owner of <br /> Brother's Powersports, Michael Strube Executive Director for Bremerton Chamber of <br /> Commerce, and Larry Pierce Washington Youth Academy Director, <br /> • Announced various Armed Forces Festival events to be held this weekend, <br /> • The 2 nd Annual Junior Firefighters Stairclimb on June 23 at Fire Station No 1 will also help raise <br /> money for Amina and her family, and <br /> • Reported that McGill's is coming to the retail space previously held by Smiley's Subs <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Todd Best appreciated the recognition of the Parks employees tonight and hoped that the City <br /> would replace lost staffing to keep the parks well maintained, and updated the Council on the <br /> Washington Avenue property cleanup and graffiti removal <br /> Regina "Rave" Hill reported that the Kltsap County Commissioners were supportive of <br /> memorializing Lillian A Walker, and thanked Council Members Faye Flemister and Greg Wheeler <br /> as well as Council Staff, Lori Smith and Christine Grerner, for their assistance in helping bring this <br /> idea forward <br />
