DIGITAL RECORDING SEP 2 1 2011 <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> September 7, 2011 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order in the City <br /> Council Conference Room 603, of the NORM DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER, 345 6th Street, <br /> Bremerton, Washington, Wednesday, September 7, 2011, at 5 00 PM, with Council President <br /> Will Maupin presiding Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Carol Arends, Dianne <br /> Robinson, Greg Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam Brockus, Cecil McConnell, and Jim McDonald <br /> City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Carol Etgen, and Legislative Assistant Lori Smith were <br /> present to provide staff support <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was then held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the <br /> Council Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the <br /> invocation provided by USS Nimitz Command Chaplain Brent Johnson <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Lent <br /> • Welcomed Stuart Walton of the Washington Community Alliance for Self -Help <br /> (C A S H) Program to discuss the program's success, and invited the Mayor, Council, <br /> and Community to the "Shop, Meet, Celebrate Local Entrepreneurs In Bremerton" event <br /> scheduled on Thursday, October 20, 5 00 to 8 00 PM in the Communitas Building at 920 <br /> Park Avenue, <br /> • Introduced Collette Berna Parks & Recreation Department, to announce the Lions <br /> Park Grand Re- Opening Celebration on Friday, September 9 at 3 00 PM at 251 Lebo <br /> Boulevard, <br /> • Invited Scott Alexander to provide a PowerPoint@ presentation with highlights of the <br /> 64` Annual U S Junior Amateur Golf Championship held recently at Bremerton's Gold <br /> Mountain Golf Complex, <br /> • Proclaimed October 1, 2011 as Bremerton YMCA's Centennial Celebration Day, and <br /> invited the community to a celebration on Saturday, September 17 beginning at 9 00 <br /> AM, <br /> • Encouraged residents to participate in the Beautify Bremerton Day on Saturday, <br /> September 17 from 8 00 AM to 3 00 PM at the Public Works & Utilities Facility located at <br /> 3027 Olympus Drive or Evergreen Rotary Park, <br /> • Also on September 17 the Sinclair Inlet Clean -Up event will be held from 11 00 AM to <br /> 2 00 PM on the waterfront in both Bremerton and Port Orchard, <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of September 2011 as Community Health Care Awareness <br /> Month, presenting the proclamation to Joan Ferebee Bremerton NAACP President, <br /> • Reminded everyone to "drop, cover, and hold" during the Countywide Earthquake Drill to <br /> be held at 10 15 AM on Wednesday, September 21, <br /> • Reported on Bremerton's Ultraviolet Treatment (UV) Facility Ribbon Cutting event, <br /> • Enjoyed attending the Bay Vista Open House, <br /> • Proclaimed September 19 to 23, 2011 as Alzheimer's Awareness Week, presented <br /> the proclamation to Christopher Dattilio encouraged citizens to wear purple during this <br /> week to help bring awareness, and invited the public to attend the 2 nd Annual Alzheimer <br /> Awareness Silent Auction fundraiser on September 8 from 5 00 to 7 00 PM and the <br /> Remembrance Walk on September 17 beginning at 10 00 AM at Evergreen Rotary <br /> Park, <br /> • Attended the Smith Natural Play Park Open House at Kitsap Community Resources, <br /> • Proclaimed September 11, 2011 as a Day of Remembrance, and presented a <br /> proclamation to David Fergus and <br />
