DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> r G � <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> August 3, 2011 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order in the City <br /> Council Conference Room 603, of the NOW DICKS GOVERNMENT CENTER 345 6t Street, <br /> Bremerton, Washington, Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 5 00 PM, with Council President Will <br /> Maupin presiding Council Members present were Nick Wofford (arnved at 545 PM), Carol <br /> Arends, Dianne Robinson, Greg Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam Brockus, Cecil McConnell, and Jim <br /> McDonald City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Carol Etgen, and Legislative Assistant Lori <br /> Smith were present to provide staff support <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was then held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Jim McDonald followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Eric Roberts of New Life Assembly <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT — Mayor Lent <br /> • Reported on last weekend's successful Summer Brewfest, and that she will soon be <br /> meeting with the Washington State Beer Commissioners to begin plans for next year, <br /> • Announced the Grand Opening of the Pacific Planetarium at 817 Pacific Avenue this Friday <br /> from 5 00 to 8 00 PM with Sky Tours provided every half hour, <br /> • Encouraged the community to support the Kitsap SC Pumas by attending the PDL Final <br /> Four Championships at the Bremerton High School Memorial Stadium on Friday, August 5 <br /> at 7 30 PM, with the Final on Saturday, August 6 at 4 30 PM, <br /> • Looked forward to the West Sound Safety & Health Expo that will be held on August 10 <br /> from 10 00 AM to 5 00 PM and August 11 from 8 00 AM to 2 00 PM at the Kitsap <br /> Conference Center and along the Louis Mentor Boardwalk, <br /> • Explained that the Kitsap Health District will provide an informational meeting on City -wide <br /> Opiate Replacement Facilities on Monday, August 15 at 3 30 PM in the Meeting Chambers, <br /> followed by a City- sponsored information meeting at 6 30 PM, <br /> • Invited the public to attend the CSO Ribbon Cutting on August 24, 2011, <br /> • Discussed the Summer Playground Program at City parks, and <br /> • Announced the 3 Annual Kitsap Wine Festival will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 <br /> from 2 00 to 5 30 PM at Harborside Fountain Park <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Mike Walton Kitsap Family YMCA Marketing Director, provided a list of activities taking place this <br /> month at the "Y" including Military Date Night on August 6, Teen Late Night every Friday, and <br /> Splash & Jam August 20 He also announced the Centennial Celebration was scheduled on <br /> September 17 with events beginning at 11 00 AM and planned throughout the day <br /> Roger Zabinski Bremerton Port Commissioner, briefed the Council on "Industry Clusters" which <br /> was the focus of discussion at a recent meeting of the PSRC Economic Development District <br /> Board He specifically addressed how local development will be affected <br /> CONSENT AGENDA <br /> A Check Numbers 344167 through 344371, and EFT -11069 through EFT -11115 in the amount <br /> of $11,379,425 60, Regular Payroll (Pay outs) for the pay period ending July 15, 2011 in the <br /> amount of $48,566 96, Regular Payroll for the pay period ending July 31, 2011 in the amount <br /> of $718,125 75, and Retiree Payroll for the pay period ending July 31, 2011 in the amount of <br /> $77,60000 <br />
