��r�•,,�;,., <br /> lbJ";,�4��,if�1 <br /> DIGITAL RECORDING �z��^r-;- ,,;� <br /> 1�� "6''��;'�r�r%�V <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> Wednesday, February 17, 2016 <br /> MAR p 1 ��Y� <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> February 17, 2016, at 5:00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NoRnn DiCKs GovERNMENT <br /> CENTER, 345 6th Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Eric Younger presiding. <br /> Council Members present were Richard Huddy, Dino Davis, Greg Wheeler, Jerry McDonald, Leslie <br /> Daugs, and Pat Sullivan. Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich; City Clerk Shannon Corin; <br /> Legislative Assistant Lori Smith; and Kevin Matthew, Information Services Manager. <br /> A CouNci� BRiEFirv� was held to discuss General Council Business at 5:00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room. At 5:30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers. <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Pat Sullivan followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Pastor Eric Roberts of Discovery Fellowship. <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT— Mayor Patty Lent... <br /> • Mentioned that she'll attend the Grand Re-Opening of Susanna's Antiques this weekend; <br /> • Presented a Mayor's Recognition Award to thank Gordon Andrews for his larger than life silk <br /> floral arrangements that he's so generously donated for everyone's enjoyment in the Norm <br /> Dicks Government Center Lobby over the past several years; <br /> • Encouraged local high school students who would like to spend a week in Kure, Japan to <br /> provide an application by April 14; and also asked for any Bremerton residents who would like <br /> to host a Japanese Exchange Student for 4-weeks this summer to please contact Elaine <br /> Valencia at (360) 473-5266 for more information; <br /> • Provided a reminder that tomorrow was Job Shadow Day; and <br /> • Announced the Bremerton Housing Authority would be accepting applications for Section 8 <br /> Housing from March 14 to 25. <br /> POLICE DEPARTMENT BRIEFING <br /> Chief Strachan used a Power Point presentation to highlight trends and statistics for the Month of <br /> January and part of February. <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE <br /> Allison Satter, City Planner, provided an overview of Element 3 on "Housing" Questions were asked <br /> by Mr. Huddy, with responses provided by Ms. Satter... <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Bernie Waldbillip, owner of Susanna's Antiques, presented a drawing of the USS Kitty Hawk to <br /> Mayor Lent for her to display at City Hall; and invited everyone to the Grand Opening of their new <br /> location at 312 North Callow over the weekend of February 20 & 21 from 10:00 AM to 6:00, with the <br /> Ribbon Cutting at 10:00 AM. <br /> Bill Schnarr expressed several concerns with issues in and around his neighborhood, and asked if <br /> the City could help repair/repave the alley paralleling Gregory Way; repair cracked concrete caused <br /> by tree roots pushing up through the road at Gregory Way and Naval Avenue; slow down vehicles <br /> that ignore the speed limit for the most part on Kitsap Way and down through Buruvell; repair sidewalk <br /> cracks that are over water lines running up to homes; suggested a parking garage near Kitsap Transit <br /> to prevent commuters from speeding through the community; and adding blinking lights in the two <br /> crosswalks by the Police Department, as well as the one at the top of the hill on Burwell due to safety <br /> concerns. Tom Knuckev, City Engineer approached Mr. Schnarr to address several of his issues. <br />
