DIGITAL RECORDING <br /> CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OCT 1 ®� <br /> Wednesday, September 19, 2012 <br /> The weekly meeting of the City Council of the City of Bremerton was called to order Wednesday, <br /> September 19, 2012, at 5 00 PM in Council Conference Room 603 of the NORM DICKS <br /> GOVERNMENT CENTER 345 6 Street, Bremerton, Washington, with Council President Jim <br /> McDonald presiding Council Members present were Nick Wofford, Faye Flemister, Greg <br /> Wheeler, Roy Runyon, Adam Brockus, and Leslie Daugs Council Members Carol Arends and <br /> Eric Younger were absent Also present were City Attorney Roger Lubovich, City Clerk Shannon <br /> Conn, and Council Assistant Christine Grenier <br /> A COUNCIL BRIEFING was held to discuss General Council Business at 5 00 PM in the Council <br /> Conference Room At 5 30 PM the meeting moved to the Meeting Chambers <br /> The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Council Member Leslie Daugs followed by the invocation <br /> provided by Reverend Ron Anderson of Manette Community Church <br /> PUBLIC RECOGNITION <br /> Todd Best provided comments in support of the proposal to lower the Mayor's salary <br /> Julia Zander announced that the Kitsap Community & Agricultural Alliance would be presenting <br /> the 4 Annual "Kitsap Grown Harvest Drnne►" on Sunday, October 28 from 6 00 to 8 00 PM at the <br /> Olympic College Bremer Student Center <br /> Taylor Niemy announced that the "Give a Flower to a Stranger" event will be held downtown on <br /> Sunday, September 23, and provided comments about grievances as laid out in the "Occupy Wall <br /> Street" movement <br /> Robert Parker believed that although a review of the Mayor's salary is a politically difficult, it is the <br /> responsible thing to do <br /> Jerry McDonald provided an update on cooperative marketing efforts being done through the <br /> Seattle Visitor & Convention Bureau and Washington State Ferries <br /> Vern LaPrath hoped that other salaries would be adjusted and that money put back into the <br /> General Fund, and thanked the unknown parties for cleaning up properties in East Bremerton <br /> MAYOR'S REPORT Mayor Patty Lent <br /> • Responded to comments made by Mr LaPrath by clarifying that the clean -up of those <br /> properties was done by volunteers during the Beautify Bremerton event last Saturday, <br /> • Introduced Coach Frankie Lee and team members Gwen Barry Kaley Slv Kennedy Lee <br /> and Bethany Mayer of the Women's Roller Hockey Team "2012 Hurricane Ladies" who will be <br /> representing the U S in the upcoming World Championships from November 10 through 17 in <br /> Brazil, <br /> • Announced the "National POW /MIA Recognition Day' will be held in front of the Keyport <br /> Undersea Naval Museum on Friday, September 21 at 7 45 AM, and the "Stand Down for <br /> Veterans and them Famihes" event will be held at Sheridan Park Community Center on <br /> Saturday, September 22 from 10 30 AM to 2 30 PM, <br /> • Proclaimed the Month of September 2012 as "Walk to End Alzheimer's Month ", and presented <br /> the proclamation to Bob Roy Executive Director for the Western Washington Alzheimer's <br /> Society who invited the community to participate in the "Walk to End Alzheimer's" on Saturday, <br /> September 22 at 10 00 AM beginning at Evergreen Rotary Park, <br />
