City Council Meeting Minutes <br /> Wednesday, October 5, 2011 <br /> Page 2 of 3 <br /> GENERAL BUSINESS <br /> 6A — ORDINANCE NO. 5164 TO CREATE SECTION 18 02.175 OF THE BREMERTON MUNICIPAL <br /> CODE (BMC) ENTITLED "SPECIFIC VIOLATIONS — FINES" Fire Captain Mike Six explained that <br /> the proposed ordinance creates a new section to the City Fire Code to establish monetary fines for <br /> specific fire code violations He made a PowerPoint presentation to provide further details <br /> 5 49:14 Motion to support ordinance was made by Brockus, and seconded by Robinson <br /> Discussion was then opened to the Council for their questions and comments, which were received <br /> by Runyon, McDonald, Wheeler, Arends, Robinson, and Brockus <br /> 05:59:42 M /S /C /U (Brockus /Robinson) Move to approve Ordinance No 5164 creating Section <br /> 18 02 175 of the Bremerton Municipal Code (BMC) entitled "Specific Violations — Fines" <br /> 613 — PURCHASE OF ONE METAL SCULPUTRE FROM WILLIAM MUELLER OF SEDALIA <br /> COLORADO TO BE INSTALLED ON THE EAST SIDE OF PACIFIC AVENUE NEAR 9 T11 STREET <br /> Andrea Spencer Community Development Director, stated that the Arts Commission opened a Cali <br /> for Sculpture Artists on October 1, 2008 The Call closed on December 31, 2008 and resulted in 75+ <br /> artist applications from around the United States After a lengthy selection process, the Arts <br /> Commission narrowed their choice to seven artists William Mueller is an artist located in Sedalia, <br /> Colorado, but has close family ties with Bremerton Mr Mueller's work features eye - catching colors <br /> and imaginative shapes It is proposed to install this sculpture on the east side of Pacific Avenue <br /> near the intersection of 9 Street and Pacific Avenue <br /> There were no comments from the public <br /> 06.09:45 Motion to approve the contract was made by Wheeler, and seconded by Arends <br /> Discussion was then opened to the Council for their questions and comments, which were received <br /> by Runyon, McConnell, Robinson, Arends, Wheeler, McDonald, and Maupin <br /> Arts Commission members Emily Russell and Joanie Pearson were also available to answer <br /> questions and address concerns <br /> 06:30:01 M /S /C (Wheeler / Arends) Move to approve the contract to purchase one sculpture from <br /> William Mueller, and authorize the Mayor to finalize and execute the agreement with substantially the <br /> same terms and conditions as presented <br /> Voted in favor of Motion Brockus, Wheeler, Robinson, Arends, McDonald, Maupm <br /> Voted against the Motion Runyon, McConnell <br /> Motion carried, 6 -Yes, 2 -No <br /> COUNCIL MEMBER REPORTS <br /> Jim McDonald invited the public to attend the District 1 Community Meeting on Thursday, October 6 <br /> from 6 00 to 7 30 PM at the Sheridan Park Community Center to discuss the proposed expansion of <br /> the Port of Tracyton and proposed reduction in Council districts from 9 to 7, and encouraged citizens <br /> to attend the Fall Fling Amateur Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, October 15, 2011 with <br /> registration beginning at 8 45 AM at N A D Park <br /> Cecil McConnell urged District 2 residents that live on the west side of Wheaton Way to attend the <br /> District 1 Community Meeting since the port expansion could affect them <br /> Adam Brockus encouraged people to attend the Roundabout Opening on Saturday, October 22 from <br /> Noon to 2 00 PM at the east end of the Manette Bridge Events will include special pastries by Larry <br /> & Knsti's Bakery, Ribbon Cutting, Races on the Roundabout, and a Drawing for First Drive across the <br /> new Manette Bridge <br /> I � <br /> 1 <br />
